Sexting
Does your child have a cell phone? If not, then this may only serve to scare you out of ever letting them have one. However, teens with cell phones are becoming increasingly more common. Along with the growing number of teens with cells, is another scary statistic.
A growing trend among teens: “sexting” or texting nude imagery, videos, photos or messages to friends, classmates, boyfriends and girlfriends.
SEXTING STATISTICS*: • 20% of all teens say they have sent nude or semi-nude pictures or videos of themselves. That’s one in five! • 39% of all teens are sending or posting sexually suggestive messages What can parents do to help their kids avoid this? Watch to find out. In addition to these staggering statistics recent studies indicate that 12-17 year olds are the largest consumers of Internet pornography. As shocking as that may seem, teens are not only looking at pornography, 20% of teens have sent/posted nude or semi-nude photos or videos of themselves.
